Is the Pope wrong or just misunderstood

Is the Pope wrong or just expressing a quote?

Sometime I have to wonder how sensitive and prideful some people are.  I was reading an online article from the CBC website in regards to how the Pope had quoted something from past here is what the pope said

The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war,” the Pope said. “He said, I quote, ‘Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.’ “

CBC response: “It certainly wasn’t the intention of the Pope to carry out a deep examination of jihad [holy war] and on Muslim thought on it, much less to offend the sensibility of Muslim believers,” said Rev. Federico Lombardi.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel also defended the German-born Pope on Friday, saying his critics misunderstood the comments.

“What Benedict XVI emphasized was a decisive and uncompromising renunciation of all forms of violence in the name of religion,” Merkel was quoted as saying in the German newspaper Bild.

I believe no one has the right to take such offense to what the pope said because we are not as innocent as we believe we perceive ourselves to be. We have all said and done things in the heat of the moment and that can be the most dangerous time to make “rational” decisions when we can’t think clearly or rationally.  I feel the Islamic community as a whole has a double standard and really hasn’t seen or heard what they hear like when they want to say something, I know all people who have a strong harsh stance must think about what they sound like as well.  I am not taking anyone sides because there is no right or wrong in regards to someone’s personal opinion.  God has given us the right to make these choices and sometimes just ignoring someone’s comments will be harder then being tempted with something you like.

When the Islamic community in the Middle East makes comments about the Western Lifestyle, government or beliefs, we tend to turn the other cheek and ignore their rants.  When they talk about destroying Israel, I only take their word as a grain of salt because if they ever did anything to kill off one race then they would be no better than all the tyrants of the world.   I feel that they need to take what the pope said as a grain of salt and understand the whole context to what he is trying to say.

By misinterpreting what someone has said could lead to disunity and confusion.  I know I have gone through my fair share of if as well.  But if Muslims want to misinterpret or hear what the pope had to say then its would be like reading the first chapter and then doing a book report based on that chapter only.  I feel that people in the Isalmic community and the media are trying to magnify a situation that is just based on words, not on a book, guns, or bombs.  He was trying to preach about violence will not convert and spread their faith.  Taking things out of context of what was written is a fine line between what is true in the beginning of a faith/religion to a cult where they can magnify and exaggerate part of a script to call it the “Only Way” to go.

I can say in the past history, all religions have chosen to use their religion or belief their Gods to justify their actions and expect rewards.  Sometime people do not realize how their simple actions against each other will have a ripple effect that will never go away.  What I mean is, when you board a plane, and you see someone of a middle eastern descent, are not fearing what might happen if they were terrorist?  This was the same in the UK, when the IRA was a big deal and if someone knew you were Irish you would think twice about being near them or even in China, would really wanted to declare your ideologies agreed with Western Thoughts during Mao’s time.  There are many examples in the past where if man takes actions, pride and attacks, the ripple effects will still be felt in the present and future.
