Virgina Tech, take a moment to reflect and appreciate life and what is important to you
Virgina Tech, a nightmare where you really have to take a seat back on our busy lives and realize how stupid some things are compare to whether you will live or die. It’s like the bible where they say He will come like a thief in the night, and today that literally took an meaning where a gun man enters a school and changes hundreds lives with a trigger.
“
At about 7:15 a.m. this morning a 911 call came to the University Police Department concerning an event in West Ambler Johnston Hall. There were multiple shooting victims. While in the process of investigating, about two hours later the university received reports of a shooting in Norris Hall. The police immediately responded. Victims have been transported to various hospitals in the immediate area in the region to receive emergency treatment.
We will proceed to contact the families of victims as identities are available.
All classes are cancelled and the university is closed for the remainder of today. The university will open Tuesday at 8 a.m. but classes are cancelled. The police are currently staging the release of people from campus buildings.”
It saddens me that it takes the loss of life to appreciate life for the brief moment in our lives. Its like the art term the sublime, yes we feel sadden in regards to the senseless taking of life because someone having a problem in their life where they feel justify using gun, but until we have actually experience something like a shooting in person, we really don’t care. Its a harsh reality where we fool ourselves and feel that we live in a “safe” place where the little things like running late to class or work or how you feel like you can hit the snooze button for just five more minutes. Unfortunately, we as in the world, we will forget the names of the victums in a few years and yet another school shooting or senseless taking of life will make us think more about life.
This is a time where people will search out God and look for the following”
1. If God was in control why would he allow this to happen? God did not allow this to happen, He has given us the choice to say yes and no. The Gunman chose to walk in and take many lives. We critize about how God controls everything, but in reality he made us all differently inside, we may have been made in his image but we are still unique. God loves us and don’t think for a second that these students we just a number to him, taking a life is simply the last thing he wanted this. Remember the gunman is human and was not thinking straight.
2. How can I know more about life? What is after this life? Its important to reflect this moment and realize that there is more to life then growing up, going to school, going to find the love of your life, going to fulfill your goals. I know that God exists for me and that there are many times in my life where he has been there when I had no one to guide me in life. But will I force people to know him, No, I will give you the information to make an educated life. Instead of following just one way of thinking, you have to realize that things can’t be left simply by chance. Looking at a baby, no matter what the circumstances is a miracle in life. Have a life grow before your eyes make you realize that life is no fluke.
My goal for this post is to encourage you to spend time with family, realize what is important for you. Remember to take moments for yourself and appreciate what you have and what could be taken away.
