Big Brother 8, why are they picking on people who are “Christians”?
September 2, 2007As I watch my big brother on TV I realized how ignorant TV stations are when it comes to what Christianity is and what Christians’ are. Big Brother chose three Christians, you have Amber the weak in faith, Jameka the over Pentecostal type to Jess where they probably grew up going to church hence by their default they are Christians.
You have either the weak in faith or new believer who just grapes what sounds good to them when good things happen to them but when a bump in life comes their way, they wavier and question why God didn’t answer their prayer accordingly.
My answer is if God was like that then the world would seriously end
1. There would be a lot more “Christians”. Seriously think about it, if you were are true Christian, and others knew that God grants everything you want then I would see conversion to 100%
2. God is not Aladdin’s Genie in the lamp. Think about the movie Bruce Almighty, when Bruce started granting yes to everything God said, our lives would be complete with chaos and doubt. If you think you have doubt now, a world where God grants yes all the time is when you seriously question why this person always winning the lotto or why am I always wanting more.
3. I would seriously ask them to not really vocalize their faith because people can use what they say against them and sometime the best answer is to not speak and just let them know I really do not know that answer but can I get back to you when I do I will. Is better than accusing people they are the “bad” people
4. There is no such thing as the “good” people, we are either lost or found. People who are lost do not know they are wrong. Instead they are lost to what God had intended. Yes there is evil and sin all around us and in our lives but to people who do not know God then.
5. Also God knows what is best for you. Think about it, you parents when you were younger didn’t always give you what you wanted because they knew that it was just a phase or it just wasn’t reasonable at the time. It doesn’t mean that your parents don’t want you to be happy but instead it was out of love that they were thinking of the bigger picture.
Then you have the overzealous Christians where most of the fanatical movements generally lead to crazy assumptions and stereotypes in the general public may have with Christianity. I know that there are different ways to worship and express your love towards God but seriously there is time for everything and to be like that on national TV is disappointing. Jameka, Jameka, what can I say, she goes from one week of quietness to in your face “You’re evil and bad and blah blah blah” to over emotional and crying and praying to swearing and dressing like a hoochy mama.
1. Didn’t you know that we are taught to not judge one another? Example. Jesus told a mob that was about to stone Mary M that if you have not sinned yourself then please stone her. We are not judge over the lost. We cannot use their sin against them and point it out to the world to see. Being a Christians is a choice and something that should be made under no pressure at all.
2. There is a time for every activity under heaven but when you act all holy one moment but slip when people around you will see and you will be doing more harm for you and others who are Christians.
3. Yes we shouldn’t judge a person by how they dress but you shouldn’t be setting yourself up to be criticized by others when you like to point out their flaws.
4. I believe that tone of voice can put off anyone and the way Jameka and Amber talked was condescending and makes people go on the defensive and blind to all that you want to say. I know that Christians are never perfect but you cannot expect the lost to do the same as well.
Lastly you have Jess, the typical I grew up in a Christian home and that defaults me to being a Christian. Nobody is born a Christian. We all start the same. We all live not knowing God yet. It’s a personal decision that we all make. I cannot comment on Jess because Big Brother seems to like pointing out the extreme of Amber and Jameka. As for me, it is a constant struggle to be a Christians when people have misconceptions of Christianity and I am still learning and trying to understand God. Being able to vocalize my opinion is hard when peoples’ focuses are towards money and success.
It’s a struggle in a affluent environment where people only blame God when things do not go their way. Why is Big Brother so anti-Christianity? When they showed a clip of Amber or Jameka praying they had this kind of churchy choir music playing in the background to the point where what’s so wrong with it? Muslims are anally politically correct when it comes to their religion but when it comes to the Christianity, it seems like anyone can throw it under the bus. I know if I posted the drawings the prophet of Mohammed that European Journalist did I would have an up roar but then why can Middle eastern Muslim newspapers can mock Christianity, North America and Israel and get away with it? Their cartooning and propaganda are based on hate instead of a political agenda. But all I can say is one Bible versus is key, Gen 50 20a” You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done,…” Its funny that this versus is common theme in my prayers and devotions, I am scared to think what may happen with this.
